TV Series Filmed in Midyat and Where to Find Them

Sıla, Hercai and Uzak Şehir: how Midyat's stone mansions and lanes made it onto the screen, and what to know when you visit.

Midyat's stone architecture has long been one of the favourite sets of Turkish TV series and films. The mansions, courtyards and lanes you have seen on screen are real, and they are here. These are the best-known productions filmed in Midyat and a few things to know when you visit.

Sıla

The mansion scenes of the series Sıla, filmed between 2006 and 2008, were shot at the Midyat Guest House (Konuk Evi). Many people still call the building "Sıla's Mansion" today.

Hercai

Hercai, which began airing on ATV in 2019, was filmed in Midyat's historic mansions and streets. It was one of the productions that drew new attention to Midyat.

Uzak Şehir

Uzak Şehir, which started on Kanal D in 2024, is largely filmed in and around Midyat and Mardin, especially in the village of Narlı, which belongs to Midyat. The series has brought Midyat some of the greatest tourist interest in recent years.

Visiting the filming locations

  • Some mansions are private property or may be closed to visitors on filming days, so it is worth asking before you go.
  • The old town is best explored on foot; driving into the narrow lanes can be difficult.
  • Weekends and holidays get busy; early morning is the quietest time.

Breakfast before the sets

Before heading into the old town, enjoy a Turkish spread breakfast facing the very view that has appeared on screen. From Bella Vista's wide windows you can look out over the old town of Midyat. Reserve your table.
